National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research.  NIH is responsible for conducting medical research and discoveries that improve people’s health, save lives and investigates treatments for common or rare diseases.  NIH also provides leadership and financial support to researchers in every state throughout the world.
